The United States of America (USA) and the UK have reportedly carried out new joint airstrikes against the Houthis in Yemen. BBC.
The Houthis, who control much of Yemen, have attacked Red Sea shipping lanes to show support for Hamas. The attacks have disrupted international trade on the main route between Europe and Asia, which accounts for about 15% of global maritime trade.
The US and UK previously said they were not seeking conflict with Yemen’s rebels but now say they are trying to protect an international trade route in the Red Sea.
Last Thursday, the Houthi leader said any US attack on the group would not go unanswered.
