The Police Judicial (PJ), together with the US Drug Enforcement Administration, extradited a drug trafficker who was pending an Interpol arrest warrant issued by US authorities.
The 43-year-old man is suspected of leading a criminal organization that distributed large quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine throughout North America.
According to the SP statement, the suspect was detained last year at Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon with “several documents and items of supposed evidentiary value for the ongoing investigation.”
The Lisbon Court of Appeal then ruled that the suspect would await extradition in pre-trial detention.
This Friday, the man was handed over to DEA agents and extradited to the United States.
