A 74-year-old man died this Saturday afternoon in Casal Vale do Souto, in Caldas da Rainha, on suspicion that he was stung by bees and had a fatal allergic reaction, but only an autopsy that will held at the Institute of Law. The medicine of Torres Vedras, where he was transported by Obidos firefighters, can confirm this scenario or the presence of natural causes.
The victim had been involved in beekeeping and honey production as a hobby for many years and suffered cardiopulmonary arrest while in the backyard of a family member’s home, near his home.
The message at 3:06 p.m. reported a “sudden illness” but responding officers were told he had been stung by bees and suffered anaphylactic shock.
The death was confirmed by the Caldas da Rainha ambulance and resuscitation team after the Caldas da Rainha firefighters arrived on the scene and were unable to do anything to turn the tide.
