The Directorate General of Health (DGS) confirmed this Thursday the presence of three new cases of measles in the Northern region: one man and two women, aged 18 to 25, who are “clinically stable”.
In a statement, the DGS said three new cases were confirmed between Monday and Wednesday.
“The new cases are clinically healthy and are outside the infectious period,” guarantees the general guidance, adding that the cases were laboratory confirmed by the National Institute of Health Dutor Ricardo Jorge (INSA).
The origin of these cases is being investigated, and close contacts among the population are being identified and control measures are being implemented, the DHS adds.
“The GDS and the network of health authorities, in collaboration with INSA and health professionals, are monitoring the development of the situation in accordance with the provisions of the National Measles Elimination Programme, focusing on the confirmation of suspected cases and contact tracing,” the Minister of Health said. the statement says.
These three cases are added to three others already identified.
In today’s note, the DGS said six cases of measles have been confirmed since January 11: two in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley region and four in the north.
