The PNP is “monitoring” and “monitoring” the demonstrations of farmers who have blocked several important roads in the country so that some major roads such as A1, A2 and main national roads are also not occupied and to ensure that in case of those cases that were effectively prevented, there were alternative ways, CM with sources close to the process. The goal is to guarantee the safety of everyone, including protesters, the same source says.
In addition, protesters cooperated to ensure that priority vehicles and even other vehicles, such as those transporting the elderly, sick and children, were allowed to pass in areas where traffic was blocked.
To ease the restrictions, GNR is posting information on existing blockades as part of the farmers’ protests on social media and the transport platform Waze and offering alternative routes for those cut off. Within its overall command, the GNR established a structure to support command, operations, information and communications dedicated to this operation.
Widespread cooperation between protesters and the PNP prevented incidents. In other cases, a criminal case may be initiated for encroaching on the safety of road transport – a crime for which a person obstructing the movement of traffic can be punished by imprisonment for a term of up to 5 years.
At 15:30, the PNP announced that 15 roads were closed due to the farmers’ protest, including the A25 (Vilar-Formoso) and A6 (Elvas) highways.
