The European Commission said this Friday that simplification is the “top priority” of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and key to the package that will be presented to reduce the administrative burden on farmers, a spokesman for the institution said.
Noting that CAP is constantly evolving and not static, Community Agriculture Executive Olof Gille said that “simplification is always a top priority” when it is analyzed to “improve the way we support farmers.”
Gille, speaking at the Commission’s daily press conference, declined to go into detail about the measures being discussed between the community executive and the Belgian country, which holds the semi-annual presidency of the European Union (EU).
