This Saturday, Pope Francis asked young people not to be influenced by modern fashion and “likes.” [gostos] and social media followers gave a speech at Rotondi Gorla Minor College, a private Catholic school in Italy.
“Young people, seek the truth in everything, without allowing yourself to be influenced by current trends or conventional thinking, by “likes.” [gostos] or “followers” [seguidores] in social networks. These are not the most important things because, in fact, too much dependence on them can take away our freedom,” he said.
The Pope also advised them not to be afraid when necessary, to change and accept opinions and ways of thinking that differ from their own in everything that is not essential, and to always be ready to listen and argue.
Regarding education, Francisco warned them that ignorance breeds fear and fear breeds intolerance, so he asked them to study as a team and with motivation.
“In fact, knowledge grows when we share it with others. We learn to grow, and growth means growing up together, learning new things and communicating with each other, with God, with teachers, with other educators, with parents and with anyone who thinks differently,” he concluded.
