The platform of PSP trade unions and GNR associations called for a show of support for the PSP National Director and GNR Commander-in-Chief in front of the Ministry of Internal Administration (MAI). The demonstration, called between the end of Saturday evening and the early hours of this Sunday, will take place this Sunday on the occasion of a meeting between the responsible minister José Luis Carneiro and the security forces, scheduled for 9 am.
A demonstration of support for PSP National Director José Barros Correia and PNP Commander General Rui Veloso is being prepared this Sunday morning.
ABOUT CM You know that the invitation of the two officials to this morning’s meeting at the Ministry of the Interior in Lisbon was barely made public after the incidents on Saturday evening outside the Famalican stadium before the home team’s meeting with Sporting, which did not take place due to a protest by PSP agents with the simultaneous presentation requests for sick leave, the platform of 11 PSP trade unions and GNR associations immediately prepared a show of support.
The police and security want to show solidarity with their commanders, thereby opposing any sanctions that both sides may face from the government. Let us recall that Prime Minister António Costa considered the police protest in Famalicão to be a “very serious insubordination” on Saturday, calling for an immediate investigation into Interior Minister José Luis Carneiro.
