Seven of the eight students allegedly involved in an episode of rape of another student in Vimioso, Bragança district, returned to school this Monday, the Ministry of Education said, also announcing the initiation of disciplinary proceedings against a staff member.
“The period of preventive suspension was extended for one of the students, and the remaining seven students returned this Monday, February 5,” the ministry said in a response sent to Lusa, adding that disciplinary measures were taken against eight students. , aged 13 to 16 years, “take place within the time limits established by law.”
Eight students were given precautionary suspensions Tuesday for four days, which ended Friday.
As for the alleged 11-year-old victim, “she is receiving psychological support” from the psychological service Agrupamentos de Escolas de Vimioso (AEV).

The PGR explains that “an educational guardianship (ITE) request is provided for in the Educational Guardianship Act when it comes to matters that constitute a crime committed by a minor between the ages of 12 and 16.”
One of the eight students suspected of involvement in the sexual assault episode was already under the supervision of the General Directorate of Reintegration and Prison Services (DGRSP) in connection with an episode classified as “corporal crimes” that had previously occurred within the educational institution. , and what marked the beginning of the educational and guardianship process.
“Following the decision of the Ministry of Justice, in accordance with Article 84 of the Educational Trusteeship Law, to suspend this process. According to police and local sources, two of the attackers are 16 years old – they could now face criminal charges – and one of them is the victim’s brother, who turned 16 on the day of the alleged sexual assault.
The remaining students allegedly involved in the incident are between 13 and 15 years old.
The alleged sexual assault occurred on January 19, but the PNP were not informed of the incident until three days later.
