The Union of Professional Policemen (SPP/PSP) announced this Wednesday that members of the Special Police Unit task force who were dismissed before the Benfica-Gil Vicente game will be transferred and will not be able to renew their contracts.
“They will be subject to reprisals motivated by political pressure and will now be removed from their working group at the risk of non-renewal of their contract. We are talking about unacceptable political interference,” the SNP/PSP note sent to Lusa said. remembering that the causes of accidents are “duly certified on clinical grounds by a competent physician.”
This concerns the dissolution of the PSP Intervention Corps, which was discharged for health reasons following last Sunday’s First Football League game between Benfica and Gil Vicente, although the situation did not prevent the trial from taking place.
Information about the disappearance of this platoon of the Intervention Corps was provided by the SIC Notícias on Tuesday evening and Lusa attempted to contact the National Directorate of the PSP, which sent an explanation in a statement to be sent to the press.
“In a democratic state governed by the rule of law, being sick is a right that everyone has, and we are talking about sick leave (we are not even talking about self-declaration),” the union added.
As a reaction, the SPP/PSP announced a meeting on Thursday at 8:00 am next to the gate of the Intervention Corps in Ajuda, Lisbon, and emphasized that there are even elements that can be spent overnight in a local .
Several PSP police and GPR soldiers have been injured in recent days, although the platform representing the 11 unions and associations of these security forces does not suggest this is a form of protest.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Internal Affairs ordered the launch of an urgent investigation with the participation of the General Inspectorate of Internal Administration into widespread and sudden medical absences by police officers.
