This Sunday, between Loriga and Torre in Serra da Estrela, a 60-year-old man was rescued after falling on a difficult path and injuring his leg.
According to the Subregional Command for Emergency Situations and Civil Protection of Beiras and Serra da Estrela, the victim was walking with a group in the Garganta de Loriga area, in the municipality of Seia, in a place where snow had accumulated.
According to the Sub-Regional Command, the alarm was raised by someone accompanying the man, who also informed emergency services of the group’s location.
The rescue operation took about four hours and involved twenty operators supported by nine vehicles.
The alarm was raised at 9:49 a.m., and at 11:29 a.m. emergency services arrived with the victim, whom responders had to take to the location of the ambulance, where he arrived at 1:10 p.m.
According to the Subregional Command for Emergency Situations and Civil Protection of Beiras and Serra da Estrela, located in Guarda, the man was taken to hospital at 13:41.
