Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal has reportedly called on the European Union and Japan to impose new economic sanctions on Russia following the death of Alexei Navalny in a remote Russian colony. Reuters.
“We call for the application of this sanction in economic matters, and in political matters – against individuals,” Denis Shmygal said at a press conference in Tokyo, where he met with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to discuss the restoration of Ukraine.
Ukraine is asking the EU to “review” increased Russian grain imports and expects support from the US House of Representatives after the Senate approved the aid, he said.
“We are fighting for democratic values for the entire democratic world, this is an existential war of democracy against autocracy,” he said.
