In Mariana Mortagua’s first legislative election as leader, BE’s official campaign will cross 13 districts, focusing on outreach and action on three axes: health, wages and housing.
Mariana Mortagua will lead the party to early elections on March 10, before finishing the year as BE coordinator and after the Blocists suffered a heavy defeat in the last legislative elections, losing half the votes and reducing the parliamentary group to just five members. deputies.
Under the motto “Do what has never been done”, BE sets out on the road with the goal, set by the bloc leader in an interview with Lusa, to “grow significantly” in the next elections, developing a campaign that will work in 13 constituencies during the official period that begins on Sunday, with a particular focus on Lisbon, Setúbal, Porto or Braga, but also via Leiria, Aveiro, Coimbra, Santarem, Beja and with trips to inland areas such as Castelo Branco. , Guarda, Evora or Viseu.
“Starting this weekend, we will go on a journey that we more or less estimate will be five thousand kilometers across the country. We will travel through several districts and the goal is to reach the end of this campaign when Mariana Mortagua will travel through all districts and autonomous regions from the beginning of January,” BE campaign director Adriano Campos told Lusa.
On the first official day of the campaign, a caravan of blockers will start in Marinha Grande before heading to Viseu for a rally and lunch in the interior of the country.
According to the campaign director, the constituency tour will focus “on the idea of building a left-wing majority based on the three axes” set by BE, namely health, wages and housing.
“We will always have a large community contact component. We will invest more than some previous campaigns in a strong presence on the streets, with more streets than in the past, with contacts based on very specific local issues.” be it the lithium problem in Argemel or conversations with social media users in Marinha Grande,” he gave an example.
Several rallies will again be part of the agenda, be it lunch or dinner, or rallies with political speeches preceded by musical moments, which will take place in the main constituencies where the Bloc is contesting parliamentary elections and which are expected to be represented by key party figures , including BE founders Francisco Luz, Fernando Rosas and Luis Fazenda.
“One of the most important moments will be on March 3, when there will be a big national rally in Lisbon, as we usually do, but it will have more significance because we already have confirmed speakers for this big rally, which will be Jorge Costa. Pedro Filipe Soares, Catarina Martins and Mariana Mortagua,” he said.
One of the novelties of this BE tour of the country is precisely the closing that will take place in Lisbon, a constituency in which Mariana Mortagua heads the list, in contrast to the elections in which Catarina Martins was at the head of the party’s destiny and traditionally held in Porto.
“It is very symbolic that Blok’s campaign ends on March 8, because this is one of the main themes of the party – feminism and the fight against inequality, and therefore this year we are considering the possibility of abandoning the usual rally at the end of the campaign, because everyone hopes that Bloko and Mariana will be present at the March 8 demonstration in Lisbon,” he said, noting that there would also be a rally and dinner afterwards to close the campaign.
According to Adriano Campos, in addition to the main campaign and the Mariana Mortagua caravan, BE has “intensive program B activities” in several constituencies where there are different leaders, elected deputies or those the blocs want to elect.
