A young man attacked two children with a knife near a primary school in Duisburg, Germany, a German newspaper reported. Image. The victims were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
According to the publication, the attacker, a 21-year-old man of German-Bulgarian origin, was arrested soon after. Police seized a knife and a flashlight, items the boy allegedly used against the children. The reason for the attack is still unknown.
The attack occurred when the children were returning from school. The victims, ages 9 and 10, managed to return to school and the teacher called an ambulance, the newspaper reported.
A rescue helicopter was called to the scene. The police are now collecting evidence and looking for witnesses.
