Due to maritime disturbances, the areas of Aveiro, Beja, Coimbra, Faro, Leiria, Lisbon and Setúbal remain under a red warning until Sunday, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
This Saturday IPMA is forecasting occasional heavy showers, which may include hail and be accompanied by thunderstorms and snowfall in the highlands of the North and Central, accompanied by strong winds along the coast and in the highlands and rough seas.
The areas of Bragança, Viseu, Guarda, Vila Real, Viana do Castelo, Castelo Branco and Braga are under an orange warning for snowfall until Sunday morning.
Porto, Aveiro and Coimbra are under a yellow snow warning until Sunday.
Regarding wind, Évora, Faro, Setúbal, Santarem, Lisbon, Leiria, Beja, Aveiro and Coimbra are under a yellow warning until 18:00 today.
The National Emergency Management and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) on Friday warned the public to take preventive measures due to worsening weather conditions, rough seas, wind and snowfall.
On Sunday, IPMA is forecasting occasional heavy showers for the rest of the morning, decreasing in intensity and frequency from the afternoon, snowfall between 800 and 1,000 meters above sea level and winds decreasing in intensity, maintaining high seas.
