The passage of Depression Monica brought the heaviest snowfall in six years, with snow levels reaching half a meter in the Northern and Central Interior Highlands.
In a report published at 22:00 this Saturday, the National Emergency Management and Civil Protection Agency announced that 316 incidents had occurred since midnight.
Most of them occurred in the Central (132) and Northern (86) regions, with the most pressing situations caused by wind gusts that led to the fall of trees and buildings. Heavy rain also caused flooding.
One such example is the Aldeia de Santa Catarina de Citymus in Alcácer do Sal, which was isolated due to the closure of the regional road 257.
In the north, regional road 205–5 in Gerês was closed due to early morning snowfall; as well as National Road 15 in Maran zone.
1,185 operational personnel and 514 ground assets were involved in 266 incidents.
