A major search operation has been carried out in the Swiss Alps to find six climbers missing since Saturday, but bad weather conditions are hampering the work of rescue teams, police said this Sunday.
Six people are “actively wanted on the Zermatt-Arolla hiking trail” in the canton of Valais (southwest), local police said in a press release.
The group left Zermatt on Saturday and have since gone missing in the Tête Blanche region.
As soon as the disappearance was reported, “all emergency services were alerted on both sides of the route and numerous technical resources were mobilized to locate the climbers,” police explained.
Weather conditions are very bad, making emergency response difficult.
