According to a statement from the National Maritime Administration, the 32-year-old paraglider disappeared this Monday after he was “seen falling into the water at Graglia beach in São Martinho do Porto.”
The woman, a French citizen, was paragliding with other paragliders. “He dropped the equipment” and disappeared, you can read.
The alarm came at 14:28. Crew members search from the Nazaré rescue station and representatives of the local command of the Nazaré Marine Police. A Portuguese Air Force aircraft and volunteer firefighters from Sao Martinho do Porto are also involved in the firefighting effort.
“The searches were suspended at 19:00 due to lack of light and for the safety of all personnel involved,” Nazare port captain João Lourenço told Lusa news agency.
The official added that searches would resume at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday “by land, sea and air using drones from the Nazaré Marine Police Command.”
