A Russian Il-76 military transport plane crashed on takeoff in the Ivanovo region northeast of Moscow, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.
“There were eight crew members and seven passengers on board,” the ministry said in a statement.
TASS emergency services reported that, according to preliminary information, all people on board the plane died. Later, the governor of the Ivanovo region, Stanislav Voskresensky, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased pilots and ordered to provide them with all the necessary assistance.
According to an international agency Satellite, The plane crashed due to one of the engines catching fire during takeoff, the department said, adding that a commission of the Russian Aerospace Forces was being sent to the Ivanovo airfield to investigate the causes of the disaster.
