The gunman took 18 hostages, including children and elderly people, on a bus at Rodoviaria Novo Rio in Rio de Janeiro at around 4.20pm on Tuesday and 7.20pm in Lisbon.
According to globeThree people were shot, one of whom is in serious condition.
Police removed all people from the bus terminal, including passengers, drivers, employees and traders from the terminal’s shops, which tens of thousands of people pass through every day.
Elite military police forces have surrounded the entire area and blocked access, while helicopters provide air support. Several snipers (snipers) were dispersed in and around the bus station. When police negotiators arrived and began negotiating the surrender of the criminal, the press was removed from the bus station; it is unknown whether this happened at the command of the kidnapper or for another reason, which makes it difficult to collect information.
