Lawyers for American actor Alec Baldwin have asked a judge to dismiss a manslaughter charge over the fatal shooting during a rehearsal that led to the death of cinematographer Galina Hutchins in October 2021. They claim that prosecutors “violated court orders” by sharing the information. Regarding the case with the media, according to The keeper.
“Enough is enough. This is an abuse of the system and an insult to an innocent person whose rights were violated to the highest degree. The court must reject the charge,” the lawyers said.
In addition to sharing information, the actor’s defense ensures that justice “unlawfully deprived” the jury of evidence against Baldwin, putting Alec at a disadvantage because he had no witnesses “who could testify.”
Let us remind you that the actor was accused of a crime in January 2023. A New Mexico judge has set a hearing for July 10. If convicted, Alec Baldwin faces up to 18 months in prison.
Hannah Gutierrez-Reid, who was responsible for the use of guns in the film Rust, was found guilty of the unintentional death of director Halina Hutchins. She was sentenced to a maximum penalty of 18 months in prison and a fine of almost five thousand euros.
