A woman who fell into a well late Sunday morning in the town of Riba de Baixo, municipality of Penacova, Coimbra district, suffered serious injuries, a fire source said.
According to a source from the Subregional Command for Emergency Situations and Civil Protection of the Coimbra Region, the elderly woman was rescued from the well by volunteer firefighters of Penacova “in a condition considered serious” and taken to the Hospital and University Center of Coimbra (CHUC). ).
The alert about the incident, which occurred in Riba de Baixo, a town located about two kilometers east of the administrative center, next to National Bandstand (EN) 2, was received by authorities at 12:22 pm via the national emergency number 112.
Nine members of the Penakova Volunteer Fire Department, the National Institute of Emergency Medical Services (INEM) ambulance and resuscitation (VMER) and the GNR, who took responsibility for the incident, were on the scene assisting the victim.
