This is one of the performances that celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2024 on April 25, and is scheduled to premiere this Wednesday at the Teatro Meridional in Lisbon at 21:00.
The play Bordalo is reminiscent of the “remarkable work in many aspects” by Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro (1846–1905), creator of Ze Povinho, and, according to Natalia Luisa, invites the viewer to “theater as space.” reflections, but also a party proposal.”
“I asked the playwright Firmino Bernardo to enter Bordalo’s universe and bring it into our time,” explains the director, who has five actors to embody 12 characters, in a play that has no shortage of irony and humor, and that “every resemblance with reality is not a pure coincidence.”
In Portugal, where there is a regime of political rotation, the Center Reform Party and the Center Reform Party compete in elections… Ze Povinho must choose. On stage are João Maria, Ana Bento, Ana Catarina Afonso, Gonçalo Carvalho and João Miguel Mota. The show runs until April 28 and can be seen from Wednesday to Sunday.
