The National Assembly of Angola this Thursday rejected requests from UNITA (the opposition) regarding the general strike called by the trade unions, the second day of which takes place this Thursday, as well as wishes to welcome social consultations.
Both requests, signed by the chairman of the parliamentary group of the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA), were presented this Thursday at the beginning of the plenary session, receiving votes against the parliamentary majority (MPLA, party in power).
For UNITA, Angola’s largest opposition party, the general strike of civil servants, the first stage of which will last until Friday, “is a matter of current and urgent political interest” but did not receive a positive vote for discussion in the plenary. . .
