Former player Dani Alves has paid the one million euro bail imposed on him by the Barcelona High Court last week and will be released in the next few hours after 14 months in pre-trial detention. Dani Alves was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for raping a young woman at the Sutton nightclub in Barcelona.
In accordance with El PaisOn Wednesday, judges at the Barcelona High Court issued a ruling in which they granted for the first time the frequently requested defense request for his release. They did so on the condition that the player, to avoid the temptation to flee, would pay a bail of one million euros, one of the highest in Spain, according to judicial sources.
