Equatorial Guinea maintained its 171st place out of 180 in the Corruption Perceptions Index, as well as the same score (17) as in 2021, as the third most corrupt country in Africa, according to a report released on Tuesday.
This year’s Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), produced by the non-governmental organization (NGO) Transparency International, shows that Equatorial Guinea “continues to suffer from ruthless exploitation by the family that runs the country.”
The non-governmental organization, which Transparency International considers the third most corrupt country in Africa – right after South Sudan and Somalia – emphasizes that “the country’s political, economic and legal systems are controlled by President Teodoro Obiang Nguema, his relatives and associates. nearly four decades.”
