This Thursday, a boat belonging to a group of drug traffickers in Cadiz crashed into a Civil Guard patrol that was preparing to arrest the suspects, reports El Espanol.
Authorities were heading to the site to seize several vessels linked to drug trafficking that were moored near the beach in Malaga due to bad weather.
The mayor of Manilva in southern Spain condemned the situation. Following complaints from the politician, the Guardia Civil took action.
When the patrol arrived at the scene, the drug dealers tried to escape, but one of the ships was unable to take off due to mechanical problems.
So, with agents nearby, the suspects attempted to free the stranded boat. They achieved this by colliding with the authorities’ vessel, causing property damage.
Fortunately, no one was hurt – details El Espanol.
The accident occurred about six months after the deaths of two Spanish agents who were rammed by a drug ship in Cadiz.
The United Civil Guard Association calls on the government to take action against impunity for drug traffickers.
“We cannot continue to look the other way, action is needed against drug trafficking. Traders feel unpunished, the Civil Guard needs more resources and more people to fight this serious problem,” the association says.
