The Ukrainian president called for joint European action to protect energy systems and ensure that “there are no more environmental disasters in Europe.”
“Securing these facilities [de energia], both in Ukraine and with our partners. This is of decisive importance not only for our state, but also for our neighbors and for the entire continent,” Volodymyr Zelensky said in his daily speech on Friday evening.
The leader of the Ukrainian government cited the example of the “disaster at the Kharkov power plant” (east) and warned of “Russia’s intention to reproduce” this episode, saying that “it must be a joint task – not only for Ukraine – to ensure that such environmental disasters do not happen again in Europe.”
