Seven young men caused panic at Sete Rios train station in Lisbon when they attacked passengers with farm scythes, knives and military daggers. The group was eventually stopped by PSP elements overseas after stealing two mobile phones from two other youths. The stolen weapons and devices were still in their possession. Six suspects, aged between 17 and 19, were detained but released by the court with periodic appearances. The youngest, 16 years old, was handed over to his parents and noted by the Commission for the Protection of Children and Youth. “Despite the violence used, the terror caused by the number of criminals and the uniqueness of the weapons used, the prompt intervention of the police restored a sense of security in this space,” PSP guarantees.
