The Prime Minister of Cape Verde has sent a letter of congratulations to Luis Montenegro on the occasion of his inauguration as leader of the new government of Portugal, Ulisses Correia e Silva said on Wednesday.
“I wish you every success in carrying out this noble mission and in guiding the destinies of our brotherly country, Portugal,” the Prime Minister of the Portuguese-speaking archipelago shared in an online message.
In the letter, Ulisses Correia e Silva reiterated the “firm goal and desire” of both sides to work to strengthen “relationships of friendship and cooperation at the bilateral level, within the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) and in the multilateral framework” of relations. with the European Union.
The Prime Minister of Cape Verde considered that we are living in “difficult times for Europe and the world, marked by wars, climate change, complex migration processes and famine that reigns in many areas of the African continent.”
Both countries, “friends and brothers, can continue to act as models of dialogue, tolerance, democracy, solidarity and peace at the global level. Cape Verde is fully committed to this collective effort,” he concluded.
The government of Montenegro, which received the investment on Tuesday, has 17 ministers, seven of whom are women, making it the third government with the highest female representation in Portuguese history.
Most ministers belong to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), led by the Prime Minister.
At the end of March, the 16th meeting of the Portuguese Parliament began with the inauguration of 230 elected deputies.
The Democratic Alliance coalition formed by the PSD and SDS-PP received 80 deputies against 78 for the Socialist Party (PS), far from the 116 seats needed for an absolute majority.
The two largest parties appealed to the responsibility of each other’s states for the adoption of fundamental laws and measures.
