Tens of thousands of demonstrators demonstrated against the Hungarian government led by Viktor Orban in Budapest this Saturday, the agency reported. Reuters.
The protest was led by a lawyer previously married to former Justice Minister Judith Varga. Peter Magyar, 43, became widely known in February when he published a recording of a conversation with his ex-wife about an attempt by an adviser to Viktor Orban’s chief of staff to intervene in a corruption case.
The case is being investigated, and Peter Magyar took advantage of the public recognition to start a political movement against the Prime Minister of Hungary, which became the starting point for the creation of the party.
In February, Judith Varga resigned from government and Katalin Nowak as Presidentdue about the scandal caused by the former Hungarian president’s pardon of a man convicted as an accomplice in a child abuse case.
The accumulation of cases involving politicians close to Viktor Orban comes at a sensitive moment for the Hungarian prime minister as European elections approach in June.
