Australian authorities said this Wednesday they found a radioactive capsule that had been lost since last week in Australia.
Mining company Rio Tinto lost a radioactive capsule last week. After several days of searching for more than 1,400 kilometers, the object was found, reports the British TV channel. BBC news.
“It’s a good news. Like I said, it was like finding a needle in a haystack. Now the people of Western Australia can sleep peacefully,” Steve Dvason, head of emergency services for the vast Australian region, told reporters.
Rio Tinto has already apologized for the loss of the capsule, as it could harm people in the area.
Here #radioactive #capsule in question, which was discovered 74 km south of Newman at 11 am today. The capsule has a serial number that was used to confirm that it was indeed the object that was at the center of our search last week. https://t.co/fsCW0H88rW #VA pic.twitter.com/AkB78jqic8
