The European Commissioner for Employment and Social Rights, Nicholas Schmit, and the President of the European Economic and Social Committee, Oliver Röpke, said this Friday that Europe must pursue a more active housing policy in the face of the current crisis.
“We are facing a housing crisis in Europe. In cities, regions and across Europe, millions of people have difficulty finding affordable housing. I think this problem needs to be solved. I know that this is true, above all a matter of national, local and regional competence, but Europe must do its part,” said Nicolas Schmit this Friday.
The European Commissioner spoke at the opening of the second day of the Cohesion Forum, which takes place from Thursday to Friday in Brussels.
