The Vatican’s representative in Timor-Leste, Marco Sprizzi, said this Saturday that the Catholic Church must be “fully human” and include everyone, regardless of gender issues.
When asked by Lusa that the discourse of the Catholic Church in Timor-Leste is still quite conservative, Monsignor Marco Sprizzi explained that the “message”, which is more than two thousand years old, cannot change.
“We must preserve it, and we cannot forget the reason for our existence. This is the main thing and we must be conservative. At the same time, Jesus is fully human and the church must be fully human, and to be human means to be close and always trying to understand more and get closer to all human conditions,” he said in an interview with Lusa as part of the Pope’s visit to Timor-Leste.
