PSP has issued a warning about a new scam emerging on the social network TikTok. This is called “pig slaughter” and results in victims losing thousands of euros in investment.

The name of the criminal scheme “Pig Slaughter” has an explanation. The goal of the criminals is to fatten the pig, in a figurative sense, and then kill it.
Having gained the trust of victims in most cases through the social network TikTok, the criminals present a plan that is supposedly easy to execute and promises astronomical profits, especially in cryptocurrency wallets (virtual currencies).
Thus, after watching music on YouTube or writing reviews on sales sites, victims are asked to make a payment, which will then be returned with a reward.
As the relationship progresses, the affected parties are encouraged to spend more and more money. Refunds currently exist through small cash transfers to victims.
The third step of “Pig Slaughter” is a call for investment of thousands of euros. Anyone who does this loses all contact with the scammers, who eliminate their online presence by creating new profiles on social networks.
Therefore, PSP urges users, especially Tiktok, not to respond to strangers’ contacts, and also to eliminate unwanted SMS messages by blocking numbers.
There should be a mistrust of any investment advice that promises significant and immediate returns, and avoid sharing personal and financial information with online contacts.
Finally, the PSP urges caution when downloading strange applications, as well as when using “links” from misspelled websites.
