Three people were killed and four missing after an explosion at a hydroelectric dam in northern Italy, an Italian fire official said Tuesday, according to a report. Reuters.
The cause of the explosion at the Suviana Lake dam has not yet been clarified.
According to the same source, the mayor of Camugnano, Marco Masinara, states that the fire broke out below ground level, adding that “the entire plant is below lake level, at a depth of about 30 meters.” He added that the injured had been taken to hospital and that the figures were being “updated”.
Firefighters and civil protection personnel, as well as rescue teams, are on the scene.
According to the first information provided by the Italian media, the explosion occurred in a generator connected to the turbine.
