The fire broke out late on Wednesday in the kitchen of an apartment on the second floor of one of the blocks of an elite condominium in Foz, Porto. Two women, aged 73 and 95, were injured, one from smoke poisoning and the other from burns, and were taken to a hospital in Santo António in Porto.
Elderly women lived in an apartment where a fire broke out, which became uninhabitable.
In a seven-story building, people were evacuated due to heavy smoke. However, four people got stuck in one of the apartments due to the fact that the escalator was not working due to the instability of the terrain. Residents, meanwhile, were taken out of the building.
The alarm was raised by residents at 7:29 p.m., and 16 firefighters are on the scene, supported by five vehicles.
Municipal police have already evacuated vehicles that were badly parked and obstructed the movement of rescue vehicles.
