Meet the Join Gervasio Award Finalists

Official: the finalists for the first Jontate o Gervásio award by Sociedade Ponto Verde have already been selected. eventually, 45 projects have distinguished themselves at the national level and apply for win up to €5000. These are packaging recycling and circular economy initiatives aimed at inspire the Portuguese follow these examples and bring them to your communities.

ISCTE Executive Education analyzed 173 applications choose from 15 top-rated projects in each of the three categories: Parish Councils, Neighborhoods, and Social Citizenship. “What is old is not thrown away” gives Senior University of Penafiel is one of the acts that make up the list of 15 finalists in the Close Entities category. From styrofoam, paper and bottle caps, memory games, chess boards and strategy challenges have been hand-crafted by seniors who are now eligible for the prize.

Now the jury must choose three big winners in each category and announce who will receive cash prizes and honorable mentions. Finalists will be judged on the results achieved and expected impact by seven individuals with relevant experience in packaging recycling and the circular economy. They are Ana Cristina Carrola, Ana Isabelle Trigo Morais, Carmen Lima, Isabelle Silva, Jose Sa Fernandez, Louise Schmidt and Luis Castro.

The top three in the Proximity Entities and Social Citizenship categories will receive cash prizes of up to €5,000 and two certificates of honor in both categories. Prize value is only 15,000 euros and is intended for new projects or for continuation of projects developed within the framework of the competition.

In the Parish Councils category, nine honorary awards will be awarded, with the first place awarded to unpublished artwork from recycled material by artist Cristina Rodriguezto install in your region. It’s called “Cardume” and aims to raise awareness among the Portuguese about recycling and the problem of ocean pollution.
