Three bailiffs and their assistants were dismissed this month from Mozambique’s prosecutor’s office for corruption, the Supreme Council of the Judiciary of the Prosecutor’s Office (CSMM) said on Monday.
The KSMS also authorized the dismissal of five bailiffs and their assistants, also for involvement in corruption cases.
The three expelled prosecutors, in exchange for money, contributed to “the release of the arrested accused and the archiving of the case under investigation” and worked in the prosecutor’s offices of the provinces of Nampula (north) and Manica (centre). according to the message.
The CSMM indicates that five dismissed employees received sums of money in order not to bring cases that had already been brought to court.
“The above sanctions are a consequence of violation of professional duties and principles, namely zeal, legitimacy, dignity, loyalty and honesty. Because there was evidence that a criminal offense had been committed, the CSMMP ordered that copies be retrieved and released to the public. The prosecutor’s office to initiate an appropriate criminal case,” the statement said.
