The Council of the European Union (EU) this Thursday adopted the seventh military assistance package for Ukraine worth 500 million euros and an amount of 45 million to finance the Military Assistance Mission.
According to the statement of the Council, the seventh assistance package for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, provided through the European Peace Support Mechanism (MEAP), was adopted this Thursday in Brussels as part of the EU-Ukraine summit, on Friday the fair in Kyiv and increases the European contribution to 3.6 billion Euro.
Member States have also given the green light to a new allocation of 45 million euros to fund the EU Military Assistance Mission (UEMAM Ukraine), which is intended to “provide essential non-lethal equipment and supplies, as well as support services for training activities.”
The EU argues that “the mobilization of assistance and additional military support to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, trained by the EUMM in Ukraine, demonstrates that the EU remains steadfast in its support for the Ukrainian armed forces in defending the country from the escalation of illegal aggression.
The EU supports Ukraine in defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity threatened by the Russian invasion on February 24, 2022.
