PAN handed over to the government a notebook with proposals to combat corruption

This Friday, PAN submitted a number of proposals to fight corruption to Minister of Justice Rita Judice and defended the need to involve academia in the future legislative process with the government.

PAN MP Ines de Souza Real spoke to journalists at the end of the first of a series of hearings that the holder of the Justice portfolio will hold with the various parties represented in Parliament to take action against corruption within 60 days.

Ines de Souza Real said the government did not indicate a timetable for new meetings during the meeting, adding that it provided the justice minister with “a summary of information on transparency and the fight against corruption.”

“PAN presents a set of measures, including legislative changes such as regulating lobbying activities or strengthening the anti-corruption tools available to magistrates, investigative authorities and prosecutors, but also at the area level. to know who our governments and legislators are sitting with,” he explained.

Ines de Souza Real also spoke about the essential importance of research into the phenomenon of corruption by academia, civil society and non-governmental organizations.

“We urge the minister to also listen to civil society and academia, who have experts in various fields,” he said, before citing Chega’s political exploration of the issue of corruption.

“We must ensure that the populist, anti-democratic forces that so often threaten human rights do not exploit these phenomena to their advantage. They are not the ones who provide the answers the country needs,” he added.
