Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev met this Monday with representatives of Cuba, Bolivia, Brazil and Sudan to discuss issues of cooperation, as well as regional and global problems.
Patrushev held talks with the Brazilian government’s adviser on international affairs, Celso Amorim, to discuss “Russian cooperation on security issues and interaction between Russia and Brazil in multilateral formats,” the Russian Security Council said in a statement.
“During a meeting with the Minister of Internal Affairs of Cuba, Lazaro Alvarez Casas, he discussed Russia’s interaction in matters of institutions of public order and justice.
In addition, Patrushev met with the Security Advisor to the President of Bolivia, Jose Hugo Moldis, to discuss “the situation in the Latin American region.”
Finally, according to the Russian Security Council, he met with the head of Sudanese intelligence, Ahmed Mufaddal, with whom he discussed the topics of “international and regional security, as well as the state of Russian-Sudanese relations.”
Russia is committed to maintaining and deepening its relations with Latin America and especially with its allies in regions such as Cuba, Bolivia, Nicaragua and Venezuela.
In February, Patrushev visited several Latin American countries and met with representatives of these four countries, to whom he indicated that the development of friendly ties with “key partners” in Latin America and the Caribbean continues to be one of Moscow’s top priorities.
