A mother decided to pawn her four-year-old son to pay for his beer consumption at a bar in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia.
The maternal grandmother reported the situation. The boy’s mother was detained by the authorities, and her boyfriend is under investigation.
Grandmother, speaking to reporters, according to the Bolivian news agency Fideszexplained that someone had called her to alert her about what was going on at the bar where her grandson “pawned the 100 bolivianos they owe in beer”.
TV channel Community TN8who quotes Police Commander Lotes, reported that “Apparently this lady had a non-father partner with whom she drank liquor. She was arrested.”
The case is being investigated as domestic violence and the grandmother wants to guarantee full custody of the child.
