Jesuit priest José Maria Brito died this Monday in Évora, reports the portal Ponto SJ.
The priest was injured on Sunday.”a stroke caused by several tumors he was unaware of,” reveals the portal he himself founded.
José Maria Brito lived for a year and a half in the Jesuit community in Évora.
In addition to being the founder of the portal of the Society of Jesus, in the Archdiocese of Évora he collaborated with the family pastoral team and with the local university center of Casarao.
“In this moment of great sadness and pain, we join the family, friends and everyone who was lucky enough to cross paths with Ze Maria throughout his life,” the text can be read.
The funeral will be this Tuesday., in Igreja do Espirito Santo, Évora, from 10:30. A Mass will take place at 12:30 p.m., presided over by the Archbishop of Évora and in the presence of the Provincial of the Jesuits of Portugal, Father Miguel Almeida.
The funeral will take place on Wednesday in Porto, where Jose Maria Brito was born.
