A passenger from Brazil was detained at Porto airport after being found in possession of 6.2 kg of cocaine “disguised in the structure of a suitcase,” Tributaria e Aduaneira (AT) reported.
In a Wednesday statement posted on the official website, AT clarifies that the detainee is traveling from Sao Paulo and that the detention took place “within its authority to control the external border of the European Union”, “through Porto airport customs”. Passenger and Baggage Control Service.
According to the AT, “Drug detection was carried out by customs officers with the help of inspection and control methods developed by AT in order to strengthen the capacity to fulfill its mission in combating illegal practices, protecting society and public health.”
The passenger, the text says, “was arrested and the drugs seized by the AT were handed over to the judicial police as the competent police authority for the criminal investigation of drug trafficking.”
At the end of January, AT also detained a woman at Porto airport, also from Brazil, with three kilograms of cocaine in her luggage.
