Anna Setton, a singer-songwriter born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, who now lives in Portugal, took advantage of the Atlantic Music Expo in Praia to travel to Cape Verde for the first time, where she felt like she was in Brazil, because climate and contacts with people.
In your showcase presented themes from various works recorded to date.
“The most recent is “O Futuro é Mais Bonito”, released at the beginning of 2023, an album of my songs with several partners. With a duo of producers from Recife, a northeastern Brazilian state, who bring a modern sound. Full of references to Brazilian music. But besides this album, I came here to promote others, my music in general,” says singer Anna Setton, who believes that her music achieves a connection between jazz, bossa nova, samba and other Brazilian rhythms.
One of the themes presented was “A More Beautiful Future”, created in collaboration with composer Igor de Carvalho.
“This is a song that I really like. This is the song that gives the album its title, it talks about hope and our role in being present in the world today and believing in a better future. It makes sense that we are going through very difficult times. Times are difficult and sometimes it is difficult to believe in the future when there are so many wars and so many people suffering, so much injustice. I think my role as a singer is to bring hope, love and to act with awareness. believing in a more positive future for everyone,” says Anna Setton.
