Sections 1 and 2 of the Serra da Estrela central massif were reopened to traffic this Saturday afternoon, while sections 11, 12 and 13 remained closed, a civil defense source told Lusa.
According to the subregional command for emergencies and civil protection of Beiras and Serra da Estrela, sections 1 and 2, connecting Portela de Aran with Lagoa Comprida and Lagoa Comprida Sabugueiro, were reopened to traffic around 14:00.
Sections 11 (Piornos-Torre), 12 (Torre-Torre) and 13 (Torre-Lagoa-Comprida) are closed to traffic from 17:00 Friday.
The areas of Bragança, Viseu, Vila Real, Braga, Porto, Viana do Castelo, Guarda and Castelo Branco were under a yellow warning until 09:00 this Saturday morning due to snowfall forecasts, reported the Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmography ( IPMA).
The IPMA has warned of snowfall forecasts of more than 1,100 or 1,200 metres, depending on the area, and also predicts snow accumulations will range from five to 10 centimetres.
