The government of Sao Tome will ask Portugal to compensate for the moral damage caused by colonization, the archipelago’s Minister of Education, Culture and Science told Lusa, adding that the issue will be discussed this Thursday in the Council of Ministers.
“This is the moral damage caused by colonization over all these years, and if Portugal agrees and accepts reparations, the government will work on this aspect,” said Isabel Abreu, answering a question from Lusa on the sidelines of the 5th Higher Education meeting. Regulatory agencies of Portugal, which began this Thursday in the capital Sao Tome.
“On the Sao Tome side, there are still no negotiations with the government. [português], but we are preparing. This Thursday the Council of Ministers will carry out work in this direction,” he said.
