The Education Ministry wants to begin restoring teachers’ frozen seniority on September 1, but the guardianship proposal “has rights that people had and have lost again,” Fenprof warned this Friday.
“Two red lines we have crossed,” said Mario Nogueira, secretary general of the National Federation of Teachers (Fenprof), at the end of a meeting with Education Ministry officials to discuss reinstating the six-year tenure. six months and 23 days of frozen service during Troika were considered.
Fenprof’s two demands were to begin the restoration process this year and ensure its completion during the current legislative session. Regarding guardianship, a promise was made that the first 20% would be replaced on September 1 and that the process would be completed within the time frame set by the legislature, Mario Nogueira said.
However, he criticized the trade unionist that the guardianship proposal “has rights that people had and have lost again”.
According to Mario Nogueira, “the ministry wants to cancel the accelerator”, a measure created by the previous ministerial team that allowed thousands of teachers to regain part of their working time that had been frozen.
In addition, he added, the trust also wants to maintain vacancies for access to levels 5 and 7, which means that “many teachers remain idle” as there were “teachers who were laid off and had additional vacancies at 5 -m and 7th levels.” levels and there will be no more of them.”
For Fenprof, this idea is “unacceptable”, but Mário Nogueira hopes that at the next meeting the guardianship will deviate from the ideas presented this Friday.
Details of the proposal will be negotiated again at subsequent meetings scheduled for May 13 and 21, with the federation warning it will not accept the proposal with which the ministry wants to “clean up the bottom.” potty every day when the teachers have already recovered.”
Mario Nogueira also reminded teachers who have their retirement time frozen until the process is completed: Fenprof’s proposal is that “instead of taking into account the whole life of contributions, it is possible to select some of the best years for pension calculation purposes.”
We also cannot forget the teachers who have taught in schools on the continent in the last few years, as well as in the autonomous regions, where all frozen service time has already been accounted for and therefore no more process takes place.
According to Mario Nogueira, the guardianship authorities seemed to be sensitive to the warning about the need to also compensate for all the working hours of these teachers. “The department has acknowledged that it reviewed and conducted this study,” he said.
Following Fenprof’s departure, a meeting began with the National Federation of Education (FNE) and a team from the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MECI), which scheduled meetings with 12 trade union structures representing the sector.
In addition to restoring the frozen seniority, the second topic of the meetings is to discuss exceptional measures to overcome the shortage of teachers in schools, while Fenprof has already warned that it will not take new measures that reduce teaching requirements. , as the previous ministerial team did.
