“It was like I was burned from the inside. I didn’t know what happened to me. I noticed that my whole body was bandaged, my vision was completely blurred, and there was a tube in my throat, but I did not feel any pain. At the hospital he was diagnosed with Stevens-Johnson syndrome. The rare condition corresponds to a severe reaction of the body to epilepsy medications, antibiotics and anti-inflammatory painkillers such as ibuprofen.
Apart from her skin, Jacqueline also had severe vision problems and currently has only 40% vision.
Jacqueline underwent surgery for the first time in 2011 and has since undergone more than 24 surgeries, including a corneal transplant, amniotic membrane transplant and stem cell transplant.
